This website was created in 1999 and was very popular. Although the website itself is rather dated in its appearance, it is a fantastic resource for Maybole’s history.

SLHF is an umbrella organisation for local history in Scotland. Here, you can find a list of historical events taking place across Scotland and can find out about other societies.
The Ayrshire Archive is the local authority archive for North, South and East Ayrshire. They hold many different records such as Town Council Minutes, Valuation Rolls and have an extensive library of historical books. The Archive is open to all, however they are only open on a Tuesday and by appointment only. Records must be requested for viewing before visiting.
Founded in 1862, DGHNHAS covers the county South of Ayrshire.
Founded in 1972, this society promotes the history of The Highlands and Islands. They have an online lecture series as well as several historical booklets available to purchase.
Culzean Castle is described by the National Trust as Robert Adam’s masterpiece and it is clear to see why. We are lucky to have such a wonderful place within Carrick.
